Susan’s Warm Winter Wish nomination came from her daughter, Ashley, as well as other family and friends. Having raised both her and her sister as a single parent, Ashley is forever grateful of what Susan has done for her throughout her life. After hearing about the Warm Winter Wish, and Susan’s recent furnace issues, Ashley took the time to make her nomination.
Susan was in the process of looking for a home in Nebraska and selling her home in Iowa to be closer to her daughter’s family. While making a trip back to Iowa a young driver turned in front of her on the highway causing and accident. Driving at speeds of 65 mph, the injuries Susan sustained were severe, including multiple cracked ribs and a broken arm. Unfortunately much of the financial burden exceeded the other driver’s insurance coverage and Susan’s coverage. Susan spent over a month in the hospital to recover from the accident. During her recovery she lived with Ashley’s family while she worked to save enough money to buy her own home.
As with many homes, Susan’s home has required regular maintenance and other upgrades to make it livable. Recently her furnace has had some issues with suggestions of replacement by service technicians. Unfortunately Susan is on disability and unable to work. After gather quotes for a replacement she realized she would not be able to afford the replaced on her restricted income.
After making a home visit to better assess Susan’s home and her heating needs the Bryant team decided she would be this year’s well deserving recipient of the Warm Winter Wish. It was also realized that the home didn’t have central air conditioning. The only cooling in the home came from a large window air in the living area. The team worked with our distributor, Comfort Products Distributing, to provide her a better solution and install central air. It was also noticed that her water heater was rusting out and would soon be an issue. Cornhusker Winnelson stepped up to provide a water heater for Bryant plumbers to install giving her new, reliable appliances in her home.
Special thanks to those helping make this year’s Warm Winter Wish happen: Bryant Heating & Cooling systems, Comfort Products Distributing, Cornhusker Winnelson and FTP Speed Shop. Thank you to our radio partners Froggy 98.1 and KLIN for their support of the Warm Winter Wish and helping us get the word out to the community.
