Why You Should Install a Heat Pump Water Heater

Usually when you're selecting a water heater for your home you're worried mostly about the amount of hot water the water heater will provide. Did your old water heater provide enough for everyone to get a hot shower? It's one thing to share bathrooms, but when you have a home with enough bathrooms you hope you don't have the issue of not enough hot water!

We understand that most homeowners don't realize how old their water heater is and many don't care until it needs to be replaced. All too often the time to replace is when you don't have hot water or your water heater is leaking. You may be thinking “yeah, so what figures”? Well when you need to make a decision and make it fast you don't always think about all the details you should think about when you're making decisions for your home. Like how much is this going to cost? And no we're not talking about how much will Bryant or another company charge to replace your failed water heater. What we're talking about is how much will your new water heater cost to operate.

If you own a home that has an electric water heater you should most definitely be looking at a heat pump water heater. Why? Their efficiency is so much better than that of your standard electric water heater that you will save yourself money in the long run. Do they cost more to install? Yes, they do. What we encourage you to think about is the return on investment.

What do you notice from the screen snips we took from AO Smith's website? Notice the performance is very similar between these two water heaters, but the efficiency is nowhere close. A heat pump water heater can save you nearly $430 a year! If you think about the fact that a typical water heater is warrantied for 6 years, that's over $2,500 in savings! Oh, and a couple other things to consider. That heat pump water heater has a 10-year warranty to the standard electric's 6 and the heat pump water heater also qualifies for rebates from many of our area electrical utility providers. In other words, more savings!

We understand the timing of a water heater replacement is often unplanned, but that doesn't mean you can't have a plan in place for when the time comes. If you don't have a plan take a few extra minutes to ask questions of the experts.
